Waiting to Exhale - Terry McMillan

So, I've read some more of it. Okay, a lot more of this. And I actually like a lot more than I did at the beginning. The characters have actually grown on me, and while I don't necessarily agree with all of their decisions, I, at least, understand them. There is a little bit of body image shaming toward one of the characters from another  one of the characters, and that's something I didn't like. I do like this is going into deeper discussion of race, interracial dating, and the aspect of colorism. Granted, these discussions probably are very surface level but it is a lot more in depth than it was at the beginning of the book, and it most certainly isn't the "beat-you-over-the-head-with-it" type of thing which I think is great. I loved the conversations on femininity, especially black femininity, and how what is(was/should be) considered "attractive"(or rather universally attraction) was questioned (i.e., lighter toned skin and long hair vs. darker toned skin and short hair). Granted, up to this point, this kind of seems just slightly touched on. However, it might go further in depth before the book ends. It just kind of depends. But yes, so far, great read. Glad I picked it up. :D
