Contemporary Romance Renaissance
2013 was the year of the Contemporary Romance for me. Major Glom and making up for all the Paranormal Romance I had been doing (along with everyone else.)
I had drifted away from this genre for a long while but there seems to be Contemporary Renaissance going on.
I discovered so many wonderful writers.
Loveswept is making a huge come back and Entangled arriving on the scene the Contemporary Category Romance found new smart and sexy life.
Long titles and wonderful series outside of Women's Fiction and Chic Lit with a more erotic edge, strong romance and HEA to wallow in can be found all round.
Oh, and then there are the excellent Indie writers taking risks and pushing the genre!
Yea!
Here are my Favorite Contemporary Romance Writers leading this revival! You will have seen them all over my lists.
So, here, in no particular order, are some Contermpary Romance Writers, I have come to love in the last year or so with some great quotes so you can get a taste of all the different flavors.
1. Laura Florand “She was all-out, delighted enthusiasm, like a stupid, bubbling stream, and the guy would just cup that in his hands for the hell of it, splash his face with it, and drop the leftovers back into the river.” Kiss the Bride
2. Penny Reid “« Quote of the day: “Friendship is like peeing your pants; everyone can see it but only you can feel it» Neanderthal Seeks Human: A Smart Romance
3. Mary Ann Rivers “I will meet you on Wednesdays at noon in Celebration Park. Kissing only. I won’t touch you below the shoulders. You can touch me anywhere. No dating, no hookups. I will meet with you for as long as you meet me, so if you miss a Wednesday we part as strangers…” The Story Guy
4. Lauren Dane “Sugar, I am not playing a game. This is serious. I mean to woo you, so shut up and let me do it.” Chased
5. Kristen Ashley “You're in deep with me, aren't you, baby?" I whispered my question just to confirm. "Drowning." he whispered back.” Mystery Man
6. Ruthie Knox “Was that some kind of romantic declaration, disguised as a filthy pirate sex offer?” How to Misbehave
7. Charlotte Stein “Everything had been cloaked in sensuousness, to the point where details seemed fuzzy and languid. Like the cuff of his sleeve stroking over the back of her hand, or the feel of his breath stirring against her lips. Her lips had grown seventy thousand nerve endings between yesterday and right now, and they seemed to buzz whenever he moved.” Sheltered
8. Rosalind James “Everything in Australia is trying to kill you, haven't you heard? Half of the ten deadliest snakes in the world live in Queensland. And then there are the poisonous spiders and the jellyfish. Not to mention the crocs and the great white sharks. Another point in favor of New Zealand. Very benign place, En Zed.” Just Good Friends
9. Cara McKenna I’m gonna fall in love with you,” Kelly said. His words hung in the darkness, bright as candle flames.” After Hours
10. Who is yours????
