This book is basically urban fiction. Basically if you like Eric Jerome Dickey, Zane, and/or Noire, then you'll like this book. While I do like Zane to some extent, this book fell flat in places for me. I don't know if it's because I'm not a big fan of the urban fiction genre so a lot of what the characters thought or believed was hard for me to a) agree with or b) relate to. I don't know. I do love a good suspense/thriller, and this honestly did have its fast paced moments. However, I just can't rave about it. I can't rant about it either. It was a good read to some extent but not something I'd downright encourage someone to read unless they loved the urban fiction genre. Anyway, there were some parts of it honestly that I felt the author over did it, as in over dramatize it, or may have portrayed it either too simplistically or too on the surface of things. That is
not to disregard or dismiss abuse in any kind of manner mind you. Let that be known. However, I did feel some of it was either kind of not explained the right way or just felt off to me, if that makes any kind of sense. In any case, no matter what it was, the believability went down for me. But other than that, it was an okay book I guess.
