Me Before You: A Novel

Me Before You - Jojo Moyes So, I just finished this book a little while ago. So, my thoughts on it are quite fresh. This probably going to be quite rambling but oh well. Okay, so, let me go ahead and just say that I did, indeed, think this book was amazing. It both was and wasn’t what I expected, if that makes sense. I knew, going in and based on the synopsis plus stuff I’ve heard, some of the material of what the book was going to have. But at the same time, it introduced other stuff, or rather it brought that stuff back to the forefront. There was some stuff that I expected. But everything related to the book was so amazing that the cliche’ stuff is pretty much irrelevant.
I did like the characters, or at least understood them. They felt well fleshed out and weren’t “cardboard”. Also I didn’t always agree with them. However, that feeling plays into the book as a main theme, and therefore, I don’t think I can really hold that against it. The character’s voices were distinct. However, I am glad when the perspective changed that the chapter was named. I found that very helpful.
I will say that this book is a tear jerker or rather, it’s Women’s Fiction/Chick-Lit, and not Romance, for a reason. ;) So,….yeah. Again, not a flaw. However, I did feel the tears brewing up sometimes and had to pull it together.
All in all, I thought it was great and it was an enjoyable read.
